"POSITION SUMMARY: The qualified incumbent will provide development for the Enterprise Portal & Content Management systems for the organization. The Senior Portal Developer will develop application integrations & portlets for the Enterprise Liferay Portal, facilitating the delivery of web content to internal & external users ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Design & maintain application code within the Enterprise Liferay Portal using Java • Design & develop themes to be used with Enterprise Liferay Portal utilizing HTML4, HTML5, CSS2, CSS3 & JavaScript • Develop portlets using Plugins SDK, APIs, XML & Java specific web services, including but not limited to JSR 168, JSR 286 & WSRP. • Deploy plugins including portlets, themes, layout templates, webs & hooks • Responsible for administration of web servers including Apache Tomcat & Websphere • Compile estimates for all development based on requirements & test cases & carry out unit testing of all development efforts • Deploy code while adhering to Citizens Release Management process REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: • Strong knowledge & demonstrated ability with object oriented programming, Java programming, Liferay Portal theme development, developing portlets & integration components for a Liferay Portal, Portal standards, SQL & web server administration • Thorough understanding of portal administration, user interface standards, & web design best practices & principles • Knowledge of cross-platform & cross-browser compatibility issues • Strong verbal & written communication skills • Ability to mentor junior developers REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field OR combination of college education & relevant work experience • 3 or more years of web application development experience • 1 or more years of Portal development experience • Experience with software development methodologies, tools, & techniques PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • 5 or more years of web application development experience • 3 or more years of Portal development experience • Experience implementing a Liferay Portal • Experience with Alfresco content management system, specifically paired with Liferay Portal, system & database migration, • Experience in all aspects of application delivery including requirements, design, development, testing & implementation • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies, SOA practices, SOAP/REST web services ABOUT CITIZENS: Citizens is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt government corporation whose public purpose is to provide insurance protection to Florida property owners throughout the state.
