"Description This position is within the Dell Data Center Solutions (DCS) Infrastructure Engineering Team; this is a very energetic team which leads the industry in delivering hyper-scale cloud computing solutions. The primary responsibility of this position is to design rack level hardware layouts for Dell DCS Enterprise customers. The senior rack level system engineer will work directly with end customers as well as multiple internal Dell teams and functions, including intake and solution teams, project managers, services, product development, validation engineers, etc to ensure that customer requirements are met throughout the design and build process. Measures of success for this position include providing robust rack and stack designs while ensuring on-time and cost effective delivery of products to customers. Specific expectations of this position include: • Creating rack level solutions that include servers, storage devices, switches, power distribution units, network cabling, power cabling, etc. • Creating design documentation utilizing tools such as CAD, Visio, Excel, etc. • Support the rack level engineering process from early customer engagement through delivery to the customer. • Ensure that customer requirements and designs are properly communicated to internal Dell PM and/or directly to global rack integration factories. • Work with rack integration factories to troubleshoot thermal, mechanical or serviceability concerns. Qualifications • Individual should possess a strong component of understanding data centers, enterprise systems, racks, networks, etc. • Individual should possess strong ability to understand competing relationship between thermal, mechanical, electrical, power, firmware, BIOS, and networking requirements. • Strong leadership, presentation, verbal and written communication skills required. • Individual will be expected to work effectively in a multi-function environment. • Individual will be expected to drive balance between cost, performance, quality, and schedule and drive international and domestic. • Knowledge of mechanical/thermals (air flow, temp, power, cooling, mechanical design) and/or electrical/power (power distribution, AC power types, power calculations, DC power, regulatory/safety). Experience in both areas is a plus. • Strong customer (internal and external) facing skills. • Strong problem solving skills. • Individual must be able to thrive in ambiguous fast pace environment • Some Travel required (~10% to 15%) • Bachelor’s degree in Thermal, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline and at least 5 -7 years experience or equivalent Interested in this opportunity?
