"Business analyst Bethesda, MD 6 months Description : Develop business and functional requirements and ensure traceability of requirements Work with the project management, project sponsors and internal project stakeholders to document the product’s vision and the project’s scope. Identify project stakeholders and user classes. Document user class characteristics. Identify appropriate representatives for each user class and negotiate their responsibilities in order to reflect the true intent of the system. Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, storyboards/strawmans, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis, and/or stakeholder viewpoints. Generate and maintain requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely. Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those who must base their designs on them and subsequently build or procure and test the solution. Define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements to compliment the functional requirements and facilitate their use throughout the project. Model requirements using various engineering techniques and models to identify gaps and assist with the derivation of operational and functional requirements. Prioritize requirements to meet stakeholder needs and enhance the design and implementation processes. Experienced with using a variety of lifecycle approaches include Agile and Adaptive. Necessary skills: 8+ years’ experience in requirements capture Ability to talk with various stakeholders about their needs and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information Ability to listen and distinguish stated user requests from the underlying true needs. Ability to think analytically and to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding Ability to facilitate requirements peer reviews Ability to communicate information effectively to customers, managers, and technical staff Ability to work in high-velocity environments while maintaining attention to detail, work and workmanship quality and professionalism. Punctuality and consistent ability to meet project deadlines. Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders (such as customers, project management, and engineering) Willingness to share information and to train/mentor peers and subordinates Ability to work alone in areas of core competencies with minimal guidance Modeling skills, to represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual representations in natural language The following skills/ attributes are very desirable (but not required): Experience using CollabNet.
