Cognos Development Lead in Detroit, MI Position Title: Cognos Development Lead Location : Detroit, MI Duration: 8+ months SUMMARY  Seeking a Consultant with experience in Cognos development/leadership.  The ideal individual will have 8+ years of industry experience, obtained a degree, and be responsible for successful technical delivery of  Reporting  Data Warehousing and  Business Intelligence projects using a formal project management methodology. They will also have experience with enterprise architecture, business analytics, deep  data analysis,  IBM Cognos technology, business support and health care industry.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  1. Capable of conducting analysis on reporting data sources, reverse engineering of existing systems by him/her self as well as providing guidance and direction to the team. 2. Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards. 3. Has wide latitude in determining creative solutions to strategic and operational needs.  4. May have technical personnel reporting to them.  5. Has extensive experience in Data modeling using Cognos  Framework Manager, Transformer, Dynamic Cubes, TM1, Metrics Studio. 6. Has Ability to provide subject matter expertise on any  subject of Cognos development 7. MUST HAVE exceptional SQL capabilities using SQL Developer or Toad. 8. Has experience with Cognos upgrade from Cognos 8.3/8.4 to Cognos 10/10.1/10.1.1/10.2 9. Working independently within guidelines, responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing application and system implementation projects using a formal project management methodology. 10. Typically manages multiple, highly technical projects of small to moderate size and risk concurrently. Oversees the full lifecycle system development process. 11. Develops detailed plans and schedules, including goals, risks, and resource allocation. 12. Monitors project metrics for significant deviations in quality, cost, or schedule. 13. Assists in establishing and improving project management methodologies, procedures and policies. 14. Provide high level and detailed estimate for projects 15. Must be able to diagnose and solve the problems as well as guiding with best practices of trouble shooting method s 16. Must be able present diagnostic, troubleshooting steps and conclusions to a varied audience 17. Adheres to Project Management Office policies, procedures, and methodologies. 18. Coaches and mentors individuals on the project teams and provides feedback on performance to their leaders. 19. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment. MUST HAVE strong documentation skills using PowerPoint, Excel and Visio 20. Supervising and/or assisting the continuous enhancement and support of existing Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions 21.
