Application Support Engineer in San Jose, CA Application Support Engineer San Francisco, CA, 6 months Key Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for providing deep level technical support. Technical lead on escalated problems within product line. Provide new and/or known solutions / work around to problems. Create and maintain Technical Alerts and other related technical artifacts. Create defect tracking tickets. Product / Problem Analysis. Interface into other organizations (internal and external). Ability to maneuver cross-organizationally. Basic Qualifications 10+ years of support experience Application Support for Java/ J2EE (mobile prefer) Weblogic Extensive knowledge of Linux Command line interface and tools. Unix/Linux network configuration - setup of network interfaces and routing, ssh, nfs, ntp Recovering down systems - boot problems, node hang, drive failures, password recovery Writing and debugging shell scripts and using tools such as truss/strace and gdb on binary executables Practical knowledge in installation and upgrade processes Analyze all aspects of the existing infrastructure and recommend modifications that will enhance system reliability, availability, serviceability and scalability Monitor Application core dumps or forced thread dumps to check for system objects using thread analyzer. Administer various Log files using log analyzer, Product logs, Installation logs, Administer server logs, Application server logs Troubleshoot and debug any errors occurring in application server environment, application debugging, heap analysis and error doc gathering required (i.e. Thread dump, heap dump). Experience in analyzing the various server logs and thread dumps to perform Root Cause Analysis. Will handle all integration tasks while working closely with both Unix/Windows system administrators, Database Administrators, application Architects and project teams.
