Stephanie Wheeler posted a job: Lead QA Engineer Westport, CT Email resume to Stephanie Wheeler at swheeler@fintechsearch.com

"Our client manages global investments for a wide array of institutional clients, including foreign governments and central banks, corporate and public pension funds, university endowments and charitable foundations. They believe the key ingredients to their success are people, whose passion, creativity, and intelligence is world class; and their culture, which demands the relentless pursuit of excellence through a meritocracy of ideas, rather than hierarchies of decision making. Technology is central to their success and to maintaining their competitive edge. Their systematic approach to investing and creative use of technology makes their proven track record possible. Position Summary: This is a high stress, high visibility job with demanding customers who are among the smartest economists in the world. Their team is building the next-generation platform for our researchers to build, simulate, and visualize their macroeconomic investment models. They are beginning to make an impact and bring about transformation at the core of our research. Their architecture consists of a sophisticated and highly-interactive GUI running against distributed servers built using different technology stacks, and backed by a custom high-performance database. Their team needs to deliver the performance, scalability, and robustness needed for mission-critical use. Their security is complicated as the content in this platform represents the firm's most valuable intellectual property. Their team is missing a key ingredient: someone to lead QA. You? Your charge is to aggressively revolutionize the QA technology, process, and people. They expect this will require a fair amount of technical work, along the lines of deeply understanding our architecture, identifying high risk areas, and designing appropriate test plans, and standing up better automation and load/performance testing. They are interested in finding someone with deep software engineering skills, systematic thinking, analytical and problem solving skills; also someone who can bring the innovation, creativity, leadership and serious hard work to help their product be successful. Responsibilities would include: • Understand the business goals of project and releases • Oversee writing and execution of test plans • Bless releases, oversee all aspects of testing including UAT • Design and oversee automation • Manage defects • Assist in troubleshooting, isolation and fixing of defects detected in the field • Provide visibility into quality of releases and continuing evolution of the QA function • Design, build, and manage QA environments and infrastructure • Re-design the processes and technologies they use to run QA • Hire, manage QA team • Mentor, coach people on the QA team Position Requirements: • A track record delivering excellent QA on highly complex, technical projects at industry-leading companies • Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or something similar, from a top university • An aggressive, grab-the-bull-by-the-horns attitude and desire to get things done • Feels comfortable giving and receiving criticism, self-managing, and taking charge when needed • Can thrive in an environment that demands quick turnaround for mission critical technical solutions • Thrive in a somewhat chaotic and entrepreneurial environment"
