Job Description: The Senior Unix/PHP Specialist Creates, implements, integrates and maintains applications. Under general supervision, formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, creates, tests, debugs, documents and maintains those programs. Designs and constructs databases to ensure integrity, performance, accessibility, and recoverability of data. Establishes database definitions and tables; designs, creates, tests, and implements custom database scripts and formal procedures. May perform physical or logical data modeling. RESPONSIBLITIES Provides guidance on architecture and development of complex application solutions. • Completes all technical development tasks pertaining to applications per approved projects and allocated budgets; • Interfaces extensively with functional users to confirm the applicability of design alternatives, identifies and recommends cost effective options, and address user concerns; • Interfaces as necessary with all critical integration points to insure that applications are integrating successfully and efficiently with all requested applications; • Conducts necessary internal quality assurance, system testing, and load testing to ensure that the application is of high quality when released to users for the User Acceptance Testing phase of the project (manage all necessary migration of software code to/from the respective environments ¿ development, quality assurance, training); • Works closely with end users and corporate sponsors during the User Acceptance Testing phase of the project to ensure that any and all necessary changes to the application can be accommodated to meet user requirements while also honoring timeline and budget restrictions; • Provides detailed deployment documentation to the support group to insure preparedness to deploy new releases into the production environment within the SLA windows • Designs, implements, and maintains databases with respect to access methods, access time, validation checks, and statistical methods; • Translates logical information model to efficient physical database designs; • Configures, analyzes, designs, creates, and maintains program code and applications to support business processes and functions; works on large, complex installations; Required • Requires BS/BA in related discipline (i.e., Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems) and 5-8 years of experience in related field (i.e., networking) OR MS/MA and 3-5 years of experience in related field. Will consider additional industry experience in lieu of degree. • 5 years UNIX system administration experience. • 5 years developing in PHP, BASH and MySQL . • Demonstrated knowledge of network management protocols. • Experience in support and/or development of web-based content solutions. • Able to work with minimal direction in a collaborative team environment. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong Experience with databases including SQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
