Parasar Dholakia posted a job: Hardware Design Engineer in Redmond, WA "Job Responsibilities: • Design, develop and maintain robotic test automation systems. This will include electro-mechanical systems such as synchro/servos, conductive bearings; flex cables, solenoids, power supplies, gearing, plastic assemblies and a wide variety of other components. • Be readily able to examine a problem and create a conceptual design that could be developed into a working solution in short order. • Design, develop, integrate, debug, document, and support functional test solutions for complex printed circuit board assemblies and systems. • Partner with internal teams to develop and support test solutions for new product testing. Leverage existing solutions as appropriate. • Design and develop schematics, state diagrams and drawings to support design and development of a given solution. • Assemble prototypes, solder circuit boards and perform testing to verify operation. • Design test automation solutions to enable work on black-box hardware, often requiring reverse-engineering. Skills Required • Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills. • Strong and reliable work ethic; able to drive a project to completion, often without access to management. • Experience building or servicing robotics or other devices that use synchros, servos, motors and solenoids. • Be able to create (from scratch) and edit existing circuit board designs and schematics (in EagleCAD initially, and Altium for more complex designs). • Ability to troubleshoot to root-cause and solve complex problems, and rapidly design viable and cost effective solutions. • Demonstrable knowledge with USB technology and specification for USB 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. • Job involves very detailed technical tasks - must understand product specifications as well as test equipment operation, including load meters, oscilloscopes, current loops, multi-meters and power supplies. • Must have expertise in SMD soldering and Circuit Board QA. • Knowledge on standard communication protocols including RS-232 and RS-485 – (I2C and PM Bus is a big plus). • Experience in hardware prototype bring-up, debug, fault detection, failure analysis, and yield improvement. • 4+ years of experience developing and supporting test solutions for electronic products. • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (MSEE preferred), or equivalent work experience." | |||||
