Role : Design Engineer Location : Atlanta, GA Duration : Long Term Contract. Job Description : Key area of responsibility includes interfacing with internal departments to understand the network design in order to clarify and update documentation via Granite IMS and update description fields through management ports on certain CPE devices via command line. Manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, sometime stressful environment and work independently to produce desired network output. Strong CPE/Ethernet/HI-CAP Commercial Network with strong multidisciplinary telecommunications background for supporting MetroE, Internet, TDM and SIP Trunking for Business Services. Create and or document assets of Client Business CPE and Granite IMS. QUALIFICATIONS: - 5 years career experience with 3 years minimum experience - Experience in central office engineering. - Experience in transmission and/or switching engineering is definite plus. - Cisco CPE router provisioning/configurations - Strong Granite IMS database knowledge - Design experience and knowledge of digital loop carrier systems - Design experience and knowledge of Nortel OC48/12/1 TBM and A-Node DLC product lines - Working knowledge of various manufacturers’ telecommunications equipment - Advanced knowledge of telecommunications networks with particular emphasis on interoffice transmission and central office equipment engineering requirements. - Familiarity with OSS platforms for integrated networks (i.e. SAM, Preside, Granite, GNIS, etc.) - Advanced knowledge of telecommunications technologies (i.e. ETHERNET, SONET, DLC, etc.) - Working knowledge of backbone and loop architectures and technologies - Strong understanding of TCP/IP and associated Internet protocols - Strong focus and experience with IP routing and switching - Some exposure to other Internet protocols: SMTP, NNTP, POP, HTTP, DHCP - Experience with network monitoring tools and network metric reporting is preferred. - Experience with Nortel Transport, Cisco Routers, Cisco Access Servers, CSU/DSUs - Understanding of basic network management principles utilizing SNMP - Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities If you are available and interested in this positions.
