Group: IT Recruiters Subject: Contract Position: SR1019 - IT Data Center Specialist Victoria Hsu posted a job: Contract Position: SR1019 - IT Data Center Specialist "Work Location: San Ramon , CA Contract Duration: 6 Months to start Desired Start Date: 6/17/2013 or sooner US local hires Job Description: Responsible for the physical inventory of all assets and come up with a tracking mechanism. The resource will have to identify any equipment that has been moved or removed from the data center on a daily basis. They should be familiar with the type of equipment in a data center (Servers, power supplies, etc.) Identify, track and prioritize the coordination of daily responsibilities while providing timely customer support of the installation, movement and/or the removal of critical computer and network equipment with minimal interruption and/or downtime. Implement/Enforce all Data Center IT and business and real estate policies and procedures, including those for security, standards, best practices, and purchasing. Responsible for day to day operations for San Ramon data center facilities during afterhours and weekend shifts. Assignments include, but are not limited to: responding to client request for Smart Hands such as Server Reboots, network cable and port assignment checks, response to alarm conditions. Completion of weekly, monthly, quarterly compliance activities, such as data center access verifications and removal of contaminants. Physical Data Center Facilities activities such as server install and de-installs, rack install and de-installs, network cable install and de-installs, physical inventory asset verification, electrical branch circuit verification and documentation updates. This position requires rigorously following Standard Operating Procedures, Job Safety Analysis, and OE processes to ensure consistent, reliable and safe operations. Support of Global Data Center Strategy of remote data center manager may involve following documented process to have IT equipment remotely rebooted in other Global data centers as well as completion of compliance controls in these Global data centers. The candidate selected for this position must be willing and able to work alone – thus all management of and assignment of work stream will be via email or REMEDY tickets. Reports to Team Lead Data Center Facilities, San Ramon. Experienced in MS Excel/Word/Powerpoint/Outlook, ability to learn ticket management application (Remedy) and inventory application (dcTrack). Knowledge of IT infrastructure components – Servers, switches, storage, etc. IT troubleshooting skills – Identification of failed hard drives/memory etc. IT build skills – Installing memory/drives and racking equipment. Detail oriented and organized. Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines. Soft Skills: Ability to work well with IT customers and IT equipment monitoring personnel.
