The Senior Software Engineer will work with a team of experienced developers. The team develops and maintains managed market access (software-as-a-service) solutions for a variety of external clients. Will work on all aspects of the software development lifecycle (design, implementation, functional / unit & performance testing, deployment, and 3rd line support). Candidates MUST be able to interview in NYC in person and NO Skype interviews Essential Skills •A Bachelor of Science or Arts degree is required and is preferred to be in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics. •At least 5 years experience in server-side Java development. •Experience deploying Java applications to Linux/Unix. •Experience building and supporting order management, order routing, trading, risk management, or similar “middle-office” applications. •Experience with performance troubleshooting and tuning. •Experience working with operations teams to deploy and support production applications. •Hands-on, server-side Java application development. •Core Java with a focus on low latency/high throughput messaging applications. •Java multi-threading, queuing, IO processing, and event processing. •Hands-on FIX protocol application development, including hands-on experience with a FIX engine such as QuickFIX, Appia, Cameron, Transact Tools, or ULLink. Optional Technical Skills •Linux proficiency (shell scripting, utilities, performance tuning, troubleshooting) •Scripting in Bash, Python or Perl •Ant, Maven, Cruise Control, and continuous integration tools •Test driven development including using tools such as JUnit, TestNG, EasyMock, Mockito, etc.Spring Framework •JSP / Servlets •Apache Thrift •JMS / WebSphere MQ / Active MQ •JVM languages: Clojure and/or Scala •Database Experience (either traditional RDMS or NoSQL) Non-Technical Skills •Experience in the complete software development life cycle, with emphasis on requirements, specifications, design, implementation, testing, and tools & methods. •Strong communications skills. •Deep understanding of software development tools, design methodologies, and software quality best practices. •Sound understanding of solutions deployment and operation. •Demonstrable awareness of business environments into which solutions have been delivered. •Capable of effective prioritization of tasks and managing personal time. •Capable of working with minimal supervision."
