John Watts has started a discussion: Looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer in London or Paris, send details to info@elitechltd.co.uk "Job Description Pre-Sales Engineer/Project Engineer Our client delivers some of the most interesting and challenging systems projects around, encompassing radio connectivity to, and within, moving trains and applications including engineering telemetry, passenger Internet, and information display systems. The pre-sales engineering role will encompasses the complete design of solutions to meet our client’s varying customer requirements in environments that demand the highest engineering integrity. They have in-house expertise in rail engineering standards and they are looking primarily for network and applications solutions architects who can transition into our industry. The role will include: A clear identification of customer requirements, and tracking of any changes as may materialise during what is sometimes a protracted sales process; Assembling a solution out of third party and our own software and hardware components, and any necessary software amendments as may appear necessary; Assembling a full costed bill of materials for the design (Our client has an online parts catalogue for this purpose); Detailed design documentation for customer and internal consumption (you will have access to 3D design specialists for engineering drawings); Contributing to preparation and approval of bid documents to ensure they are in line with the proposed design; Overall contribution to technical direction of the business in light of challenges and solutions encountered in dealing with customers. This is a key central role in our interaction with customers. Good presentation skills and experience in dealing with end customers are essentials. The role has the following interactions: With salespeople, customers, rail engineering subject matter experts and project managers to assemble a clear picture of requirements and constraints applying in the project to hand; With development staff and network engineers to convey detailed requirements for configuration or software changes; With product management to identify any new requirements or shortfalls in existing functionality and to receive briefings on new introductions to the portfolio; With the service desk to introduce them to the key features of the solution delivered. The Person 3 years solutions design in a complex environment encompassing both TCP/IP networking and applications adaptation or development; Fluent in French Experience handling multiple solution designs, large and small, simultaneously; Hands-on TCP/IP networking experience and basic understanding of Linux concepts such as iptables and route; Some radio experience for example designing WiFi coverage schemes; Clear logical thinking and presentational skills; Fully self-supporting in MS Office package. Location The role may be based out of our London or Paris office, but substantially will involve travelling from home to whichever office or customer location is appropriate."
