Subject: Operations Director (FMCG-Ghana) Gigi Russo posted a job: Operations Director (FMCG-Ghana) "Operations Director : FMCG Distribution A large FMCG multinational, expanding at a rapid rate and servicing the West African emerging commodity market, is looking for an experienced Operations Director. This is a newly created position. The incumbent will be responsible for the strategic distribution strategy across 3 business units. Working closely with the CEO, you will lead 3 Managing Directors, operating locally whilst your focus will be regional across West Africa to ensure that effective processes are implemented and maintained to maximise their distribution efficiencies. Responsibilities • Enhance and align the group distribution strategy to global, product and brand strategy; • Ensure that the company’s objectives and operational delivery is in keeping with modern trading conditions; • Building brands and supporting operating companies in marketing and advertisement campaigns in conjunction with the group’s marketing department; • Understanding market trends by monitoring and surveying consumption trends, consumer preferences, market players, rules and regulations etc. for the purpose of identifying new opportunities and as a prerequisite to building a sound business strategy; • Sourcing and establishing relationships with suppliers by locating, developing, negotiating and establishing business relationships; • Negotiating group level FMCG procurement with major suppliers, sets and monitors the annual quantity commitment in coordination with respective Managing Directors. Principal Commodities are rice, sugar and cocoa; • Coordinating between Groups manufacturing and trading entities by managing and harmonizing the relationship between the Group’s manufacturing and trading entities in terms of transfer pricing, distribution channels and sales strategies; • Reports directly to the CEO and would liaise extensively with the MD on operational matters. Competencies Required • Tertiary degree from a recognised institution; • 10 years experience in distribution, operations and branding to have been gained in a multinational FMCG company; • Exposure and experience to have been acquired both within Southern African and emerging markets preferably West Africa; • Good exposure to sourcing and procurement within FMCG environment; • Strong planning and analytical skills; • Ability to work in a structured environment; • Good exposure to working in a multinational environment; • Fluency in English is a must; • Fluency in French is preferable but not essential. Salary The position is a fulltime permanent position based in Accra, Ghana. The salary package is an expat package therefore earnings are in US dollars net per month.
