Justin Wandrey posted a job: System Infrastructure Controls Engineer | Dell Data Center Solutions | Austin, TX "This position is for a controls engineer in Data Center Solutions. · Individual should possess a strong working knowledge of control theory as well as have demonstrable experience in architecting and designing automatic control systems. · Individual should possess a strong component hardware to industrial control system understanding including PLCs, contactors, relays, actuators, VFDs, etc. · Individual should possess design experience of embedded software systems using IEC 1131-3 Programming Languages; specifically Sequential Function Chart and Structured Text. · Individual should possess strong ability to understand competing relationship between thermal, mechanical, electrical, power, firmware, BIOS, and networking requirements. · Strong leadership, presentation, verbal and written communication skills required. · Individual will be expected to work effectively in a multi function modular architecture and engineering development team and engage customers and suppliers directly to discuss and interpret control solution requirements and reduce requirements to feasible and implementable designs. · Individual will be expected to drive balance between cost, performance, quality, and schedule and drive international and domestic engineering teams and strategic partners to provide world class solutions. Qualifications · BS in mechanical engineering with 10+ years of experience or equivalent of thermal and thermals related controls design and manufacturing · Solid working knowledge of mechanical design, thermal engineering and associated controller programming and testing required. Working experience with programmable logic controllers a must. Working experience with computational fluid dynamics tools like Flotherm, Six Sigma, Icepak, etc a plus. · Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills required for domestic and global internal and customer facing presentations and working sessions. · Valid US passport and ability to travel a minimum of 1-3 times a month domestically for a few days at a time plus 1-2 international trips per year a requirement. · Individual must be able to thrive in ambiguous fast pace environment. · Individuals with strong data center thermal experience at the facility and/or individual component level, including working experience with computational fluid dynamics tools like Flotherm, Six Sigma, Icepak, etc a plus.
