MANAGER OF ESTIMATING FOR LARGE MINING COMPANY IN VANCOUVER, BC "Location City Vancouver Province/State British Columbia [BC] Title Manager of Estimating Job Type Permanent The Ideal Candidate You will have 5+ years estimating experience in the Mining & Metals industry. Job Description The Manager of Estimating will be responsible for all aspects of cost estimating for a large EPCM project or portfolio of smaller projects. Responsibilities - Acts as Senior Estimator on assigned projects. - Responsible for all aspect of the estimate development process. Review and approve estimates. - Review drawings, specifications, bid requests, attend pre-bid meetings, visit sites. - Prepare or review Estimate Plan and Basis of Estimate documents - In conjunction with the project controls team develop coding structure for the estimate. - Prepare and review various types of estimates from inception to completion. - Establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts; - Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirects, design unknowns, escalation and contingency. - Present estimates and conduct review meetings with the client. - Provide leadership and mentoring to intermediate and junior members of the estimating team. - Supervise staff for adherence to procedures, methods and systems established. Allocate work and provide assistance in resolution of problems. Make recommendations regarding staff selection, training and discipline. - Perform other estimating related functions as assigned by Divisional Project Controls Manager. Requirements A university graduate with 5+ years of estimating experience in the engineering/construction field, with significant experience in mining and heavy civil works. Experience in staff supervision. Competence in use of computer estimating applications or an equivalent combination of studies and related experience. - Professional designation (P.Eng, CEP) will be an asset.
