Chris Coleman posted a job: Vice President of Sales (Molecular Diagnostics) – North America "Venture-backed early-stage company seeking a Vice President of Sales to lead sales efforts for novel consumable products targeted at esoteric molecular cancer diagnostics. The products are gaining momentum and awareness in the industry. We are looking for someone capable of maximizing the business potential at both the direct sales and executive management level. As Vice President of Sales, you will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for the overall coordination, functional management and leadership of all direct sales activities. Core Responsibilities: • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to meet and exceed sales objectives in assigned regions. • Define, drive, and manage monthly and annual sales objectives for all sales personnel. • Work with internal teams to enhance existing CRM efforts throughout the organization. • Conduct and organize necessary territory planning and routing for efficiency. • Develop strategic account plans to deliver differentiation messages to targeted major reference laboratories. • Work with internal marketing and executive teams to develop enhanced collateral generating customer interest. • Represent organization at major trade shows and conferences to build brand awareness and establish key contacts. • Maintain in depth awareness of key trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies. Skills: • Demonstrated leader among employees. • Consultative highly technical sales approach. • Robust familiarity of reference laboratory market, industry and players. • Strong fundamental knowledge of advanced laboratory testing. • Highly computer literate and uses sales database tracking programs. • Organized with very effective time management. • Strong negotiating, written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to create and deliver compelling presentations. • Ability to close deals and move a company/strategy forward to successful outcome objectives. Background: • Extensive knowledge and contacts within the molecular cytology division of laboratory diagnostics. • Candidate must possess a BS/BA, Bachelor’s level degree in business, economics, life science or marketing. Masters degree or MBA desirable. • Entrepreneurial experience in building a sales organization while also focusing on new business identification, evaluation and development in laboratory science. • Minimum of 10 to 15 years in the medical device industry with progressive responsibilities in sales and marketing. • Minimum of 8 years current direct experience targeting executive level decision makers at reference laboratories. • Experience selling into group organizations. • Must have managed sales divisions with at least 20 sales representatives. • Demonstrable experience developing and executing tactical sales plans, exceeding quotas and account management. • Management of a diverse sales group including independent manufacturer’s representatives as well as direct representation in some regions. Travel: Initially, up to 85% of time will be spent in the field focusing on assigned accounts and co-traveling with sales personnel / technical advisors. As the organization grows, an increasing amount of time will be allocated to strategic sales and marketing issues from a home office.
