We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Product Engineer. It is responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of ATS product line heat transfer code; and the development of new products and processes that will meet future customer and market requirements KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Design, develop, program, and maintain component heat transfer code. Train applications engineers on use of component heat transfer code. Be in-house expert on Kuli thermal management system software. Utilization of APQP approach to product development as outlined in ATS Project Management methodology Responsible for the development of new technology to support future engine cooling and air conditioning technologies. For example, the design and process development of next generation radiators, charge air coolers, condensers, evaporators, and oil coolers. Establish key relationships within the advanced engineering communities of ATS customers in order to collaborate on future technologies and product development Champion of ATS Project Management methodology for product development activities Train and mentor others in heat exchanger product development TECHNICAL SKILLS: Excel programming and extensive experience with macros. Experience with KULI thermal management software. Must demonstrate a strong ability to design engine cooling and air conditioning components and have extensive knowledge in the physics of heat transfer and fluid flow phenomenon as applied to vehicles. Strong analytical skills including heat transfer analysis, stress analysis and energy balances within the cooling system. This position requires an extensive knowledge of the application of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Computer skills in the areas of computer aided engineering. CFD experience a plus FEA experience a plus Demonstrates a strong understanding of production methods and the concept of designing for manufacturability. Should possess solid background in the processes of welding, brazing, and metal forming. Must possess strong project management skills and employs the use of computer based prediction and tracking tools such as Microsoft Project. Experience in the use of quality tools such as FMEAs, Design of Experiments, SPC, etc. A commitment to staying up to date in the state-of-the-art of heat transfer as it applies to the vehicle industry through attending trade shows and seminars. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The desired requirements of the position are: A Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering, physics, chemical engineering, or aerospace engineering. Masters Degree in engineering a plus. A minimum of seven years of applicable experience. Experience in a heat transfer business and/or automotive supplier would be a plus. Experience in an OEM manufacturing setting. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated drive for timely and detailed results is a must. Above average communication skills, organizational and interface skills. Flexibility to travel, both domestically and internationally. Writing of policies, procedures, cost justifications, project status reports, etc. Interact with outside suppliers, customers, and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner.
